About Us
The Belvidere Board of Realtors® has been serving Boone County residents and real estate professionals since 1964 when it was chartered through the National and Illinois Association of Realtors®. Shortly after the Board's organization an MLS Committee initiated an MLS service that included only new listings with no provisions made for solds, changes, or expirations. This became inefficient; therefore, in 1973 a more effective MLS through Waldsmith Illustrators was initiated. At that time Lorna Nightingale was hired as the Association Executive and MLS secretary, Lorna was a dedicated employee to the Board for 25 years until her retirement in 1998. A manual system stayed in place until our computerization in October of 1993. In 1977, the Belvidere Board of Realtors® established an office in the downtown area of Belvidere where we are still located at 215 North State Street. The Board was able to purchase the building several years later in 1988. The Belvidere Board of Realtors® has had to opportunity to grow because of the dedication and commitment that so many of our loyal members have given through their efforts and time spent on various committees. This has also allowed the Board to give back to the community in such ways as a donation to Belvidere School District 100; yearly scholarships given to Senior recipients from Belvidere and North Boone High Schools; collaborations with the local Salvation Army that include donations of children's coats, hats, and mittens and "Meals on Wheels". We are proud of our identity we have rooted in the community. Most members were born and raised in Belvidere, which allows them to give their client's the knowledge and expertise of the Belvidere area that their clients deserve when selecting a Realtor® in Boone County. |
